Iran’s ‘Women who Run with the Wolves’ to compete in the US

Iran’s ‘Women who Run with the Wolves’ is to compete at the 10th Universal Film Festival in the US.

Iranian title ‘Women who Run with the Wolves’ has been selected to compete at the 10th edition of the Universal Film Festival in the US.

The Iranian work, which will go on screen at the drama short film competition of the US event, is about some events taking place on the fringes of war; however, it is a romantic drama rather than a war flick.

Directed by Amir Athar Soheili, the story of ‘Women Who Run with the Wolves’ only occurs in a war location.

“Thousands of years ago, Younes (Jonah) got doubtful and slipped. The instant his story was about to reach its pinnacle, Jonah’s story went through a fish’s gut. Now, a thousand years later, Zhaleh gets doubtful and slips when her story is about to finish at its highest”, a short synopsis for the film reads.

Laya Zanganeh, actress of some popular ifilm series such as ‘Like a Mother’, ‘Father’ and ‘Zero Degree Turn’, plays the leading role of the short film.

‘Women Who Run with the Wolves’ has so far gone on screen at a number of global events, including the 25th Kolkata International Film Festival in India and the 5th Realtime International Film Festival in Nigeria.

“The Mission of the Universal Film Festival is to create and provide a credible and accessible venue for aspiring and talented filmmakers,” writes the official website of the event.

Over the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s edition of the festival will be held online on August 22-24, 2020.
